This pendant measures 3.5cm and features a large Vegvisir ("signpost" in Icelandic!) - a symbol from our magical staves that is very popular in modern day Iceland.
Its significance dates back to the 17th century when farmers had to endure harsh climatic conditions. They would carry this symbol about their person and hold it up to the moon, with the belief that it would guide them back home. Today we draw upon our history when wearing this symbol as we believe it will keep us from losing our way as we go through life. The outer part of this pendant depicts the alphabet in Viking runes.
A 55cm stainless steel chain is an available option for this pendant - please let me know when checking out if you would prefer that necklace. The existing leather necklace is 45-50cm (extendable).
